A mother and her two adult children  have been charged with third-degree riot and fourth-degree assault motivated by bias in connection with an attack on a group of Somali students on January 18, US media outlets said today.

US prosecutors said the three targeted the students as they left St. Louis Park High in Minnesota for the day.

Video of the incident went rival online earlier this month.

The incident led to classes at the school being canceled for one day.

A Somali boy suffered multiple cuts on his legs and wrist along with a swollen eye and nose after the suspects assaulted him, KSTP TV reported.

The state of Minnesota is home to the largest Somali population in the US.
