Organization of Islamic Cooperation condemns Mogadishu attack

The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has condemned a gun attack at a military base in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, on Saturday, February 10, that killed at least five Somali, Bahraini and Emirati soldiers.

OIC secretary-general Hissein Brahim Taha called the attack at the General Gordon camp a heinous terrorist operation and offered his condolences to Somalia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

The secretary-general said the OIC condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and offered its support for the efforts of the Somali government to combat terrorism and enhance security and stability in the country.

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud offered his condolences to the UAE for the loss of its troops in the attack, which was claimed by  al-Qaida-linked group Al Shabaab.
